I’m Sarah Zad! I started Ranting & Raving in 2025 and will be hosting the workshops! I’m a Syrian / American refugee-support worker living in the UK with my little pug, Ruby. I recently completed my MA at Goldsmiths University, specialising in anthropological policy, with a focus on asylum rights and resettlement schemes in the UK. Originally, I trained as a dancer and musician, and I have a passion and background in facilitating community arts projects.

I love utilising creativity to share ideas and perspectives. My recent pieces of writing (no AI!) focus on themes of migration, rights, and community.

Happy Place | FACT: Year 0’s Legacy & FICTION: She Meets the Body via Acid Box

Acid Box is a graphic novel and participatory arts project through Wowbagger Productions. Scientists & creatives came together for a series of workshops to discuss its themes: rave culture, time-travel & climate change. The participants’ pieces are included at the back of the book. As well as the intro to our pieces, “Happy Place”, I also did a writeup of one of the workshops (FACT: Year 0’s Legacy) & an accompanying obscure short based on the presumptions of rave culture (& FICTION: She Meets the Body). This workshop featured my friend Joe Muggs, electronic music journalist & historian, Dr David Nutt, a foremost drugs researcher & founder of Drug Science, and Dr Divya Jindal-Snape, “transitions” research specialist.
